Singalongs, snacks and cafe conversation for Alzheimer's patients

(Alzheimer's cafe concept comes to Knoxville)
Alzheimer's cafes are a popular concept in Europe that an innovative senior care activity director decided to try in East Tennessee.
Kathy Broggy wanted to try something new for residents and their caregivers at Courtyard Senior Living on Inskip Road.
On the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m., the facility hosts its own version of an Alzheimer's cafe called Memory Lane Cafe. It's free and open to all caregivers and Alzheimer's patients, not just those living at the facility.  
"I'm hoping people will find a nice, comfortable place to just come with their loved ones and have fun, not worry about what other people might think if Dad puts salt in his coffee by mistake, those things you don't really want to do in public. I just want people to be able to relax and enjoy themselves," Broggy explained.
