A study done at the University of California, Irvine , may have uncovered a another piece of the Alzheimer puzzle. The study showed that Alzheimer’s disease patients may be unable to produce DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), DHA which is an omega-3 fatty acid that has many studies showing its’ benefits in brain health and development. The scientists looked at the post mortum liver tissue from patients with Alzheimer’s and patients without the disease. They found that the liver tissue from Alzheimer’s patients did not produce DHA and the liver tissues from those without Alzheimer’s did indeed produce DHA. Read moremsnbc.msn.com
